Lead Auditor Will Weir, President of PREAAmerica
Will Weir brings 30 years of combined detention and investigative experience to his role as Lead Auditor and President of PREAAmerica. He holds the rare distinction of being one of the very few auditors dually certified for both Adult and Juvenile PREA facilities, having completed his initial training in Kansas City in June 2014.
Prior to his work with PREA, Mr. Weir built a robust career in corrections, primarily with the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs. This included collaborative work with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, where he also served as a Program Volunteer and graduated from their 2014 Leadership Academy, re-certifying in December 2017. He holds a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Mr. Weir’s diverse professional background encompasses experience in Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs facilities, community offender programs, and child welfare shelters. His investigative expertise was further honed as a lead investigator for both Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services. Additionally, he worked with former inmates at the Oklahoma Department of Human Services’ Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program.
This comprehensive and unique background provides Mr. Weir with an intimate understanding of both the PREA standards and the practical obstacles facilities face in achieving them. His vast experience is consistently demonstrated throughout dozens of audits, all focused on helping facilities reach their PREA compliance goals and enhance safety
As Project Manager, Tom Kovach leverages over a decade of experience in investigation and two decades in robust project management. His valuable governmental experience, demonstrated through his service on various boards like the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments and as a member of the Norman City Council, provides a comprehensive perspective crucial for effective project oversight. focused on budget and policy.
